Keebler, shown above, is an 8-year-old dachshund recently brought to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua. His back legs are paralyzed from a disc disease common in his breed. He also has ”severe” dental problems and a mass in an eye that needs to be removed, the humane society said.

The humane society had to consider euthanizing him because of his condition, but then Amherst-based Handicapped Pets donated a custom wheelchair for Keebler that now allows him to walk as he did when he was a puppy.

The humane society started a GoFundMe campaign to pay for Keebler’s surgery and dental care. It raised about $3,400 in one day, exceeding the $2,500 goal. The campaign is still accepting donations.

After Keebler’s surgery is done, he’ll be put up for adoption.

“it so great to know we can do this,” Dr. Christine Schlupf of the Nashua humane society told FOX 25. “I don’t really have words.”
