Fire Dept. Releases Cause of Portsmouth Gas Light Co. Blaze
Numerous firefighters from around the region came to the city to assist, according to officials.

PORTSMOUTH, NH - Portsmouth Fire Chief Steven E. Achilles has released the cause of yesterday’s building fire on Market Street.
In a statement this morning, he reported that the cause was “a fire in the duct work from the wood fired grill.”
Firefighters from Kittery, ME, Newington, Greenland, Dover, Rye, Pease, New Castle, Hampton, Durham, York, ME, Eliot, ME, Stratham, Somersworth, Exeter, and North Hampton all assisted either at the scene or covering firehouses during the blaze, he noted.
