Maine In-Home Caretaker Accused Of ID Fraud In Portsmouth
Amy Cresta of South Berwick was arrested Wednesday and is accused of targeting a handicapped woman.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — A multi-month investigation into a credit card fraud allegation has led to charges against a woman from Maine, according to Portsmouth Police. Amy Cresta, 45, of South Berwick, ME, was charged with three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card as well as single counts of forgery and identity fraud. Police received a complaint in July about an in-home caretaker, later identified as Cresta, that had "exercised unauthorized control over the victim’s credit card and used it at various locations around the city," according to Capt. Darrin Sargent of the investigative division of the Portsmouth Police Department.
The victim in the case was a handicapped woman, according to Sargent.
After investigating the incident, a warrant was issued for Cresta's arrest. She turned herself in to police Wednesday and was charged. She is due Rockingham County Superior Court on Oct. 18.
