Portsmouth Arrest Log: Newmarket Man Charged After Alleged Hit-and-Run

Plus, Maine man charged with vandalism and a Newburyport, MA, man was also arrested recently.

Derek C. Boutcher, 43, of Washington Street in Newburyport, MA, was arrested at 10:27 p.m. on July 24, 2015, on two bench warrants. Police were sent to a report of a “drunk male on the front benches” of Borthwick Avenue. The checked on the man, found he had bench warrants, and he was arrested.

Joseph F. Devirgilio, 31, of Route 1 in York, ME, was arrested at 1:27 a.m. on July 26, on a criminal mischief (vandalism) charge. He was arrested after police were sent to Fleet Street for a disorderly conduct complaint.

Rudolf F. Bachman, 50, of Gordon Street in Newmarket, was arrested at 4:43 p.m. on July 26, for driving after revocation or suspension, conduct after an accident, and a warrant. Police were sent to Market Street and Kearsarge Way for a hit-and-run accident. Portsmouth Fire was also sent to assist an elderly man with a head injury. A witness alleged that after the accident, a person fled the scene. Later, police caught up with the suspect vehicle.

James M. Egal, 33, of Back River Road in Dover, was arrested for simple assault. He turned himself in to police.
