Portsmouth Police Sergeant Fired
Aaron Goodwin has been terminated after reportedly using undue influence to inherit $2.7M from a woman with dementia he met on the job.

A police sergeant has been terminated by the Portsmouth Police Department after hearings into whether or not he used undue influence to inherit millions from a woman he met while on the job.
Aaron Goodwin was fired on June 24, 2015, after series of meetings and review of an investigation into whether or not he used influence to get Geraldine Webber, a local woman with dementia, to put him in her estate.
Stephen J. DuBois, the city’s chief of Police, and John F. Golumb, the chairman of the Portsmouth Police Commission, made the joint announcement of the firing via email.

“The decision comes after extensive review of the findings of the Roberts Report, and careful deliberation over 6 meetings beginning on June 2,” the notice stated. “This termination is only one of many changes that we have made and will continue to make as we seek to close what has been an unfortunate chapter in the otherwise proud history of the Portsmouth Police Department. We wish to thank the citizens of Portsmouth and the men and women of the Portsmouth Police Department for everyone’s patience.”
After allegations of undue influence were raised years ago, an investigation into the matter began in 2012. The matter is before the Strafford County Probate Court, according to Seacoastonline.com. The report found that Goodwin violated the city’s ethics code and police regulations.
