Before the bustling seacoast we know today, there was a rugged frontier, a convergence of cultures, and a singular moment in 1623 that changed everything. We invite you to join us for an immersive Century Walk through the hallowed grounds of Odiorne Point State Park. This isn't just a hike- it’s a journey through the 1600s. We will trace the footsteps of the early settlers and the Indigenous peoples who knew this land long before, exploring the triumphs and tribulations that eventually forged the Town of Rye. Event Details • When: May 23 • Where: Odiorne Point State Park (Meeting at Seacoast Science Visitor Center) • Duration: Approximately 1.25 hours of guided storytelling and exploration.

Whether you are a local history buff or a curious newcomer, this walk offers a unique perspective on our shared heritage: • The 1623 Landing: Stand where David Thompson and his company established "Pannaway Manor," the first European settlement in what would become New Hampshire. • Indigenous Perspectives: Learn about the deep history of the Abenaki people and their relationship with this coastline. • The Struggle for Survival: Hear stories of the early fishing industry, and the daily lives of those who braved the "New World." • The Path to Rye: Discover how these early colonial clusters evolved into the distinct, vibrant community of Rye.

All Aboard the Rye History Trolley Tour!Rye Historical Society invites you to step back in time and discover the stories that shaped our seaside town -&nbsp; from its earliest settlers and fishermen, to grand hotels and summer visitors, to the farms and forts that defined generations of community life.&nbsp; Join us for a two-hour guided trolley tour filled with fascinating narration, scenic routes along Ocean Boulevard's breathtaking coastal views, and opportunities to step off and explore some of Rye's most iconic landmarks. Along the way you'll visit three places that each tell a different chapter of who we are:


<ul><li>St. Andrews-by-the-Sea Chapel, with its historic stained-glass windows including two by Tiffany - and one dedicated to longtime parishioner and church secretary Ogden Nash. </li><li>The Drake House, once one of the grandest hotels in town, a surviving relic of Rye's storied era as a seaside resort destination. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased online through Eventbrite or in person the day of the tour. Boarding begins at 10:15 AM at the Rye Town Museum, 10 Olde Parish Road - please park in the library lot. The trolley departs promptly at 10:30 AM.
