Brooklyn New York Man Faces Felony Charges After Shooting In The Woods Of Derry

DERRY, NH — A man from New York was arrested on Saturday after being accused of shooting another man in the woods off Kilrea Road in Derry.

Around 3:30 p.m., police were sent to the Parkland Medical Center after a man in his mid-20s arrived at the facility with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers arrived at the center, spoke to the victim, and confirmed he was shot once.

The victim was then taken to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police investigated the incident and found that Mark Dolgonos, 21, of Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn, NY, and the victim were “recreationally shooting in a wooded area south of Kirea Road in Derry,” Capt. David Michaud, the division commander-support services for the Derry Police Department, said.

“While shooting,” he said, “a firearm controlled by Dolgonos discharged, striking the victim. Dolgonos assisted the victim in obtaining medical aid.”

Dolgonos was arrested on second-degree assault and reckless conduct charges, all felonies. He was released on personal recognizance on Sunday. Dolgonos was arraigned in Derry District Court on Monday, but he offered no plea. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for March 6.
