5 Events This Weekend In NJ: Blueberries, Vintage Baseball, State Fair + More
What's going on this weekend in New Jersey? Patch rounded up five events to take a look at.
NEW JERSEY — If you're looking for something to do in the Garden State this weekend, you have no shortage of options: the State Fair Meadowlands opened this week, there are concerts and entertainment events galore, and a bevy of blueberry-themed events for an annual celebration of this beloved Jersey crop.
There is rain in the forecast this weekend, so Patch recommends you check event websites or social media to make sure they're still going on. We selected a mix of outdoor and indoor events, just in case.

1. Vintage baseball is on the docket as The Historical Society of Princeton hosts two historical ball clubs on Saturday, June 24. The teams from Flemington and New Brunswick will play bare-handed, wearing period uniforms and using 1864 rules.
There are also several performances this weekend at Morven Museum and Garden, including "Peter and the Wolf" and "I Am Harvey Milk." (Check out more Princeton events on Patch.)

2. Beachstock in Margate bills itself as "the planet's biggest beach party," and has free admission to a day of kids' activities, food, live music, surf and kite lessons, and more.
Beachstock runs for 12 hours beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday (rain date Sunday, June 25). A bonfire will be lit in the evening, with a Samoan fire knife dance performance by the South Pacific Island Dancers.
3. The State Fair Meadowlands has opened up for 18 days in East Rutherford - with pig races, concerts, magic, fair food, and two nights of fireworks. The fair runs from June 22-July 9.
As a new feature, there will be daily live music. The fair will also include " death-defying stunts, high wire jumps and magic routines." (Read more on Patch.)
4. Get a sweet start to summer, as the 40th annual Blueberry Summer Fest kicks off in Burlington County. You can tour the historic home where blueberries were first cultivated in the early 1900s, and enjoy live music while you visit local vendors, pick blueberries, sample food, and play games with the kids.
This festival is on Saturdays from June 24-July 22 (rain dates on Sunday), from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with different themes each week. This event benefits the Whitesbog Preservation Trust.
5. Finally, with the last weekend of the North to Shore festival in Newark and other concerts and comedians around the state, there are quite a few opportunities to see a live show.
- Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Marisa Monte, and the powerhouse duo of Jazmine Sullivan and Ari Lennox all play at North to Shore on Friday. Saturday and Sunday's performers, including Natalie Merchant, can be found online.
- If you're looking for a laugh on Saturday, there are two comedy shows in Newark: Bill Burr at the Prudential Center, and an evening with Stephen Colbert and Jim Gaffigan at NJPAC. Standup comedian Ross Matthews has a show Sunday, too.
- Three Dog Night plays in Morristown on Saturday.
- Rodgers and Hammerstein's "State Fair" plays at the Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven through July 9.
- Sinatra: A Man and His Music with the Duprees, Saturday night in Carteret.
- Magical Mystery Doors, which blends the music of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and The Beatles, plays every Sunday at Ocean Casino Resort through Sept. 3.
- The New Jersey Repertory Company has two performances this weekend: "Democracy Sucks" and "Sister Mary's Playtime," both which wrap up the company's Pride Festival.
