Missing Elderly Man Sought In Barnegat: Police

Leslie Shaffer, 82, was last seen about 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday and may be in the area of Cloverdale Park or Nautilus Drive, police said.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Barnegat police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing cognitively impaired 82-year-old man.

As of Wednesday, New Jersey State Police are assisting in the search.

Leslie Shaffer was last seen about 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 18, police said. He is 6'1" tall, 182 pounds and possibly wearing a gray sweatsuit, police said. Shaffer has a history of dementia due to Alzheimer's Disease.

He may be in the area of Cloverdale Park or Nautilus Drive, police said. Shaffer is believed to be on foot, not driving a vehicle.
