📰 News we're reading

• Tax Hike Still Likely In Delayed Belleville Town Budget (patch.com) — Belleville homeowners are facing a likely municipal tax increase of about $175 on a $300,000 home as the town's 2026 budget remains delayed pending state approval. Officials say soaring group insurance costs are driving spending, while a previously approved school budget will also raise the school portion of Belleville property taxes this year.

• Nutley Resident Will Exhibit Photos At West Caldwell Gallery (patch.com) — Belleville-born photographer and writer Anthony Buccino is showcasing his work in an October exhibit at the West Caldwell Public Library's Richard R. Cass Art Gallery. Now living in Nutley, Buccino draws on his journalism roots and local Essex County scenes, including Nutley, to capture everyday subjects from fresh perspectives, and invites area residents to explore the many photo-worthy spots close to home.

• Belleville Has Them. Montclair Is Next: Parking Ticket Cameras Expand in N.J. (montclairlocal.news) — Belleville drivers should be aware that automated SafetyStick parking ticket cameras already monitor intersections like Union Avenue and Greylock Parkway, issuing tickets after a short grace period. Police say the system improves safety and plan to expand it to more problem spots, while other New Jersey towns, including Montclair, weigh similar technology and debate privacy concerns.
