Berkeley Creates Holiday For Girl With Heart Defect

The community has rallied behind Carly Fetzer in her fight against a congenital heart defect. She will now go down in Berkeley history, as town officials declared that Feb. 12 will be "Carly Day" in Berkeley Township.
Fetzer was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. She received three surgeries in her early childhood to reroute her body's blood flow. Mayor Carmen Amato signed a declaration Friday to announce "Carly Day."
"I just want to thank Mayor Carmen Amato and Berkeley Twp for the tremendous support we have always received from Day 1 in 2015 when things really began to decline for Carly," the Believe 4 Carly Facebook page posted on Facebook. "The feeling you get as a parent, of having an entire community and then some...praying, supporting and cheering on your child cannot even begin to be described in words."
