Road Closed After Car Hits Pole In Berkeley: Police

A car hit a utility pole and caused high-voltage wires to ignite surrounding trees in Berkeley on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Westbound traffic on Pinewald Keswick Road is being diverted as the pole is being repaired, Berkeley police announced at 4:18 p.m.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Community Medical Center, according to police. The Pinewald Pioneer Volunteer Fire Department and the Bayville Fire Department responded to the fire, police said. Power was restored in approximately an hour, according to police.
