Central Regional School Board Fills Vacancy In Split Vote

Former Central Regional Board of Education member Nick Mackres has his Berkeley Township board seat back, at least until November.

The board voted 4-3 at a recent meeting to appoint Mackres to fill the vacancy left when longtime board member Keith Buscio resigned in February to run for a seat on the Township Council, schools Business Adminstrator Kevin O’Shea said.

Board members Michael Passeri, Joe Mielewski and Jennifer Leicht cast the no votes, he said.

Mackres narrowly lost a bid for a full term in 2013.
