Central Regional school officials have gone into the advertising business in an effort to bring more revenue into the district.
Each of the 30 Central Regional buses will now carry a banner advertising ”Sahara Sam’s” for the next year.

“We are hoping that this will open the door for more businesses that are interested in getting exposure to the area and possibly look at this as a good way to advertise their business,” Board Secretary Kevin O’Shea said.
The contract was approved at the March 19 Board of Education meeting. It calls for the ads to be displayed on the buses for one year. The deal netted Central Regional $5,850 in revenue. The Educational and Learning Center, which brokered the deal - received 35 percent of the gross proceeds, O’Shea said
“Under the State’s law, at least half of the revenue must go to offset transportation costs,“ he said. “The Board of Ed can then decide if they wanted to earmark the other half for a particular purchase or initiative.”
