Intoxicated Man Spits On Cops At Bayville ShopRite: Police

BERKELEY, N.J. — A highly intoxicated man spat on two Berkeley patrolmen while under arrest March 26 at Bayville's ShopRite, Berkeley police announced Thursday. Raymond J. Guzzetta had been yelling obscenities and stumbling about the store, according to police.

Guzzetta, 55, of New York, refused to leave the premises, police said. His actions drew the attention of a crowd of customers, according to the Berkeley Township Police Department.

Officers arrested him for disorderly conduct after he refused to leave, police said. Guzzetta resisted arrest and spat on Patrolmen Jonathan Mulvihill and Steven Kappock, police said.

Guzzetta was subsequently charged with throwing bodily fluids at an officer, police said. He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing.
