Longtime Central Regional School Board Member To Resign

Keith Buscio is leaving to run for a seat on the Township Council.

The Central Regional Board of Education will soon be looking for a replacement to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of longtime board member Keith Buscio.

“We have received a letter from Mr. Buscio that he will be resigning effective Feb. 20, ” Board Secretary Kevin O’Shea said. ”So our February meeting will be his last.”

Buscio - who holds one of the Berkeley Township seats on the regional school board - is resigning to run for a council-at-large seat on Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr.’s Republican slate.

The school board has to accept Buscio’s letter before the board can advertise for interested candidates, O’Shea said.

“The Board of Education gets to appoint someone to fill the spot until the end of the year,“ he said. “If that person or any other wishes to be on the Board going forward into 2016 and beyond, they will have to file a petition with the county and get on ballot as usual.cleardot.gif
