Elderly Man Found Dead in Berkeley Lagoon: Police
Preliminary investigation shows no signs of foul play, police said.
BERKELEY, N.J. — An elderly man who went missing was found dead in a Bayville lagoon Wednesday night, Berkeley police said. Preliminary investigation showed no signs of foul play, officials said.
The unidentified 76-year-old male was found deceased at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, police said. The lagoon off Sandlewood Drive was several houses down from his residence, according to police. The man was known to have preexisting medical conditions, authorities said.
Berkeley police were informed of a missing elderly man at about 5 p.m. Wednesday. The caller reported they didn't know where the man was, and his vehicles were at home. Berkeley police, the Bayville Fire Department and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department conducted a search.
