The Undead Return To H & M Potter School In Bayville

The school's annual "Zombie Apocalypse" slated for Oct. 18 and Oct. 19

The props, the disaster plan and the zombies are ready to go.

Yes, it's that time of year again, when the undead prowl the hallways of the H & M Potter School in Bayville. The annual "Terror In the Halls Zombie Apocalypse" is slated for two tours on Oct. 18 and Oct. 19.

And physical education teacher Jason Miller and his co-host art teacher Joan Richie have been prepping for the event since last Halloween.

Miller - who cheerfully owns up to an obsession with Halloween - wrote this year's script. A disease fells students in the school. There is no known cure.

"The person doesn't have thought," he said. "They just have the drive to eat flesh."

So parents may want to think twice about bringing young children, since Miller has rated the shows "PG." Younger children can attend, but they must be accompanied by a parent, he said.

The Zombie Apocalypse will wind through the hallways and rooms of both floors of the school and even outside. And it's going to be as realistic as possible. Miller has no patience with cheesy zombies.

"This is going to knock people's socks off," Miller said gleefully.

Holding a Halloween event in town will eliminate the need for residents to travel to some "Podunk town" with less than stellar haunted house festivities, he said.

"Forget that, man," Miller said.

The two shows will run from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 18 and Oct. 19 at the school on 60 Veeder Lane in Bayville. Doors open at 7 p.m. General admission is $5. All proceeds are turned over to the H & M Potter PTA.
