Two Central Regional Star Athletes And Students Sign With Colleges
Amanda Carolan and Erin Trapp both headed to prestigious schools.
One is headed to Georgetown University, the other has committed to Columbia University.
The Central Regional school district recently announced signings of two top athletes and students.
Amanda Carolan will attend Georgetown University in the fall on a scholarship to play soccer and pursue and career in science or math.

Carolan’s prowess goes beyond the soccer and lacrosse fields. She has been enrolled in honor and AP level courses throughout high school. With a weighted cumulative average of 105.58, she earned induction into the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. She received Athletic Academic Awards for Outstanding Scholar Athletes. She also received the Stars and Stripes Award for highest grade point average in numerous subject areas throughout high school.
Amanda has been an exemplary role model. She served in the Class Council as an underclassman and was the Vice President Sophomore year. She was a Peer Leader since tenth grade. She assisted young children with reading through the Ocean County Library’s SAIL program.

Amanda’s tremendous athleticism is only outweighed by her sportsmanship. In soccer, she shattered the previous record of 78 career goals. She also holds a school record of 36 goals in a single season. Last year she led the team to the Shore Conference Finals for the first time in school history. She has helped soccer win three B-Conference Championships since joining the team freshman year. She was recognized as the Ocean County Player of the year as a sophomore. She was selected to the All-Shore First Team as a junior. Amanda has been a standout in Lacrosse as well. She played varsity since freshman year. She made the B-South All Division team twice. She was awarded Most Valuable Player for CRHS last year.
Erin Trapp has excelled and enjoyed numerous accomplishments during her time at Central. Erin enrolled in honor and Advance Placement level courses where she achieved high honor roll. With a current weighted grade point average of 103.7, she received an Academic Letter last month. Her consistent academic excellence earned induction into the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Science Honor Society. She achieved a 610 Math and 560 Verbal on the SAT.
Outside the classroom, Erin has been equally impressive. She was a standout soccer player and helped the team reach unprecedented success- three B-South Championships, State Sectional Finals, and Shore Conference Final. Individually, Erin was Coaches All Division Team 2012-13, All Ocean 2nd team 2012, All Ocean 1st team 2013, and All Shore 3rd team 2013. She also played soccer for the elite Player Develop Academy, U-17 ECNL.
Erin received a varsity letter in basketball the past three years, and was awarded as Scholar Athlete for the highest GPA. She was a manager of softball in 2012, and she received a varsity letter in 2013-14. In addition to athletics, Erin served as Class Secretary and Public Relations on Student Council, and she was a member of Student Congress.
Erin intends to continue her education and soccer career at Columbia University next year. She would like to study Biomedical Engineering and become an orthodontist.
