Where's Officer Rocky Kane? Elf Riding With Berkeley Police

Santa has dispatched one of his elves to the township to help Berkeley's officers keep track of who's being naughty and nice.

BERKELEY, NJ — The Christmas season brings with it the arrival of Santa's elves, keeping a watchful eye on kids all over. In Berkeley Township, it's not just the kids who have an elf looking over their shoulder this holiday season.

Elf Officer Rocky Kane is in town, on loan from the North Pole Police Department, riding along with Berkeley Township police. Police Chief Karin DiMichele said Kanes will be participating in a number of operations in the coming days, but she was not at liberty to release many details of his itinerary.

"He will be visiting each division in the police department," DiMichele said.

On Wednesday, Kane was spending the day with Officer Scott Selby as he made the rounds wth the police department's DARE program.

On Thursday, Elf Officer Kane took time out to stop by the memorial to Berkeley Lt. Alison Wray, the Berkeley Township officer who died Nov. 3, 2017, following a stroke.

"Having known how much Lieutenant Alison Wray and her family loved Christmas time, one of his first orders of business was to pay his respects to her at the memorial garden in front of police HQ," DiMichele said.

Kane will be checking in after his shift about 7 p.m. each day on the police department's Facebook page, so folks can see where he's been. You can find the Facebook page here.

Note: Small oops. A sugar rush led to us misspelling Officer Kane's last name. We hope he won't put us on Santa's naughty list for the error.
