JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON

Meet the Strangers at the Manger!

Pluckemin, New Jersey (December 2, 2021) – The Pluckemin Presbyterian Church (PPC), located at 279 Route 202-206 in Pluckemin, invites you to their Advent sermon series on Sunday mornings at 10am called “Strangers at the Manger.” Throughout the series, you will journey through ancient Bethlehem and encounter the characters in the Christmas story who were at the Manger when the Christ child was born. The series will culminate on Christmas Eve, December 24th, with two special worship services:

4:30pm Children and Family Worship – grab the whole family just as they are and attend this child-centered worship service as we celebrate Jesus’s birthday with you!

7:30pm Traditional Candlelight Service – Flickering candlelight, glorious choir music, and the gorgeous sound of the “Carillon” handbells will enhance the worship experience as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Light of the world! Service ends with the traditional singing of “Silent Night, Holy Night” to candlelight.

“December at PPC is jam-packed with fun events, ranging from energetic to more contemplative, to get you into the Christmas spirit,” says Rev. Ian T. Rankine, Pastor at Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, “whether you come for our Christmas concert on December 9th featuring harpist Aideen O’Donnell or attend Messy Church – our vibrant, intergenerational service on December 14 - you will leave spiritually refreshed and uplifted.”

Other seasonal happenings at the church include:

Saturday, December 4 at 5:00pm: A free, indoor, choral and handbell concert followed by an outdoor tree lighting and carol sing

Sunday, December 5 at 10:00am: The choir and praise band from New City Kids, an after-school program for at-risk youth in Jersey City, NJ, joins us in worship for part 2 of “Strangers at the Manger”

Thursday, December 9 at 1:00pm: A free concert featuring the “Queen of Irish Harp” Aideen O’Donnell

Saturday, December 11 at 4:00pm : Gather at the church and walk to Pluckemin Park Senior Citizen Community for Christmas caroling

Tuesday, December 14 at 6:00pm: Children’s author Laura Sassi joins us at Messy Church to read her book “Good Night Manger.” Together we’ll eat dinner, make ornaments and sing Christmas carols. No fee is charged for Messy Church. Freewill donations accepted.

Sunday, December 19 at 10:00am: A Service of Lessons and Carols
