Laffey-Berg thanked Crate and former mayor John G. Ducey, who appointed her as CFO.
"I truly love my job, except for the early except for the yearly public budget meetings, which there was
no getting out of," she said. "It's been an exciting, nerve-wracking, strenuous, rewarding 18 years."
"And it takes a team, that team that you depend on and you trust to assist you in carrying out your job becomes people that you've grown extremely close with," she said. "I thank you all."
She also praised Joanne Bergin, Brick Township's business administrator.
"Thank you, Joanne, for being my amazing, wonderful boss for the last last part of my municipal government journey, but especially for being the wonderful friend that I love, and I plan to have many more stories be made with even after retirement," Laffey-Berg said.
"It's been a wonderful journey and I thank you all for taking the ride along with me," she said.
