Dialysis Shuttle For Brick Seniors Expanding

The township is expanding the service to meet growing needs, officials said.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township will be expanding its Senior Shuttle service for dialysis patients beginning March 1, the township said.

The shuttle, which first launched in 2019 and added dedicated dialysis transportation in 2024, will be adding a second shuttle, with one serving the north side of Brick and one serving the south side.

The expansion is happening as Brick adds a new vehicle to the Senior Shuttle fleet, paid for by a grant received through the office of Sen. Andy Kim, officials said. The fleet now has five vehicles.

The additional dialysis shuttle is expected to reduce travel times and improve scheduling flexibility, officials said. Anyone interested in the dialysis transportation service should call Senior Services at 732-920-8686.

The Senior Shuttle provides free transportation to Brick Township residents ages 60 and over to local places including the Senior Center, shopping areas, regular doctor appointments, and events such as the township's Traders Cove concert series.

The shuttles are wheelchair-accessible buses. Residents who need transportation not for dialysis should call Brick Township Senior Services at 732-920-8686 at least two days before their appointment. Seating is limited and trips are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

"For many seniors, especially those undergoing dialysis, transportation is not just a convenience — it is a necessity," Mayor Lisa Crate said. She called the shuttle "one of the most impactful programs" Brick Township has offered.

"I am proud that we are able to expand this service so that even more residents can get to their medical appointments safely, comfortably and on time," she said.
