Somerville Fire Update: 1 Restaurant To Reopen, 4 Businesses Remain Closed

The 4-alarm fire that ripped through Downtown Somerville on June 4 remains under investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — One restaurant is reopening and four other businesses remain closed following a four-alarm fire that ripped through Downtown Somerville on June 4.

Savor Restaurant at 18 W Main St. will reopen on June 27 at 11:30 a.m.

"We had temporarily closed due to a recent fire nearby and took this time to assess and remediate any secondary damage to ensure the safety and quality of our dining experience," wrote Savor.

Downtown Somerville New Jersey encouraged locals to "come and show your support (and get a delicious meal!)"

Savor is located in the building next to the three-story building on the corner of W Main Street and South Bridge Street where the fire broke out around 2 p.m. on June 4.

Restaurants King Tut and Mike's Courtside Kitchen in that building remain closed and a total of 8 families or around 16 residents living in apartments above were displaced.

Additionally, Yoga Odyssey and Sushi Yokohama also remain closed due to water damage.

"No new update at this time. Still under investigation," said Somerset County Prosecutor's Office(SCPO) Chief of Detectives Frank Roman Jr. to Patch.

The SCPO is continuing to investigate the origin and cause of the fire.
