Trapped Driver Rescued By Firefighters In Route 206 Crash

The driver is believed to have been suffering a medical emergency at the time of the crash in Somerville, said police.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — A trapped driver in a crash with a truck on Route 206 was rescued by firefighters last week in Somerville.

On Jan. 27 at around 10:30 p.m., a driver believed to be suffering from a medical emergency while driving hit the back of a truck at a high rate of speed, said Somerville Police Captain Anthony Brattole.

Somerville Fire Department arrived and found one occupant in a vehicle that hit the rear of a trailer.

"Strong work from all the agencies on the scene who safely rescued the trapped occupant and transported them to the nearest facility," said the fire department.

Neither of the drivers suffered any injuries as a result of this accident, said Brattole.

The nature of the medical emergency was unknown at the time of the accident but drugs/alcohol were not a contributing factor based on statements/observations from officers on the scene, said Brattole.
