COVID Survivor Sues Essex County College To Work Remotely
A program manager at the college, which has campuses in Newark and West Caldwell, says he suffered lung damage and needs to work from home.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A man who manages a program for Essex County College — which has campuses in Newark and West Caldwell — is suing the school because he suffered from lung damage from COVID in March 2020 and wants to continue to work from home, the Daily Record reported Tuesday.
Michael Corbitt, who manages the college's Aspire Initiative program for high school students heading to the college, said in a lawsuit that he was hospitalized from mid-March to mid-April 2020 with COVID-19. The virus left him with "ongoing breathing issues," he said in the suit, according to the story. He was denied a work-from-home extension, the story says.
Corbitt says in the suit that he had to use sick days and Family Medical Leave Act days, and had long periods of unpaid leave. He's seeking "equitable relief and compensatory damages," the story notes. You can read more here.
