The Chatham post office has been the subject of complaints from residents over the past year, who say mail is delivered extremely late, and sometimes not at all. In response to that, the Post Office added extra workers and separated parcel delivery from regular mail delivery.

Officials chalked the issues up to several things: increased online shopping, recent departures among staff, the hiring of a new postmaster, new carriers with no local knowledge and the Veterans Day/Thanksgiving holidays back-to-back.
