Home Moves Closer To Demolition In Cherry Hill
The township council passed a resolution on June 15 that allowed the municipality to move forward with tearing the structure down.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — A structure that some Cherry Hill residents have sought to be taken down for roughly a decade is moving closer to that fate.
The township recently advertised that it was seeking bids for someone to demolish and remove the residential structure at 1138 Winding Drive in Cherry Hill, according to a public notice.
The township set a deadline of receiving bids on that particular project until Thursday at 11 a.m., the public notice said.

In most circumstances like this one, a member of the township staff reviews the bids received and then makes a recommendation to council regarding who or what company should be awarded the contract. The council then votes on the recommendation at a subsequent council meeting.
Cherry Hill Township Council President David Fleisher was among the council members who have previously indicated they wished for the building to come down.

This is a "very important step in resolving a neighborhood issue that has been outstanding for years," Fleisher said at the council's June 15 meeting.
The owner of the structure failed to "complete the project in accordance with statutory deadlines" over multiple years, according to a resolution council passed at the same meeting regarding the property.
