Cinnaminson Football Team Ascends to First Place in Group II Standings

The Pirates are in first place after occupying third place, according to the power points standings posted on nj.com.

After recently settling in at third place, the Cinnaminson High School football team leapt two spots to the top of the Central Jersey Group II power point standings, posted Monday on nj.com.

The Pirates (5-1, 63 points) moved into first place, edging Roselle (4-2, 62 points) by one point.

The top eight teams in each group after the first eight games of the season qualify for the playoffs. Only a team’s seven best wins of their first eight games count toward qualifying for the playoffs.

Power points are calculated based on the size of the schools a team has defeated, and the number of wins that team has.

Even when they were undefeated, the Pirates were unable to move ahead of teams with more losses until this week.

Cinnaminson defeated Lawrence (2-3, Group III) this weekend.

Cinnaminson’s other victories are over Robbinsville (Group 2, 0-6), Willingboro (Group 2, 0-6), Bordentown (Group 2, 4-1) and Hamilton West (Group 3, 1-4).
