Cinnaminson Police Chief Retiring After 25 Years In Law Enforcement

Chief Richard Calabrese will step down at the end of the month.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson Police Chief Richard Calabrese will retire after nearly 25 years in law enforcement, he announced Wednesday.

Calabrese plans to step down on May 31, having served as police chief in the Cinnaminson Township Police Department since 2019.

"This was WAY MORE than a job to me," Calabrese wrote in a brief announcement. "Cinnaminson is my family."

Calabrese served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1989-93. He began his law-enforcement career in 2000 with the Camden County Park Police before moving on to the Bridgeton City Police Department.

In 2004, Calabrese joined the Cinnaminson Police Department, where he spent eight years as a detective. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2015 and then lieutenant in 2017, when he was assigned as the internal affairs commander and the department's officer-in-charge.

On Feb. 4, 2019, Calabrese became the township's sixth police chief. He was also appointed last January as president of the Burlington County Police Chiefs Association.
