Election Day Results: Cinnaminson Voters Take to the Polls

The Third Congressional District race has been receiving national attention.

With no contested elections locally, Cinnaminson voters are heading to the polls to determine a Congressional seat, two freeholder seats, a U.S. Senate seat and two ballot questions today.

Cinnaminson Mayor Anthony Minniti and Committee Member William “Ben” Young are running unopposed in the municipal elections, but the Cinnaminson Republican Club is still offering free rides to the polls.

Cinnaminson Board of Education Members Dennis Hassis and Jacquline Plunkett are running for re-election. Board Member James Herschel opted not to run for another term. Therese A. Garbett is the third person running for the three, three-year seats.

In contested elections, Cinnaminson voters will cast their votes in the race for the Third Congressional District seat soon to be vacated by Jon Runyan. Democrat Aimee Belgard and Republican Tom MacArthur are running for the seat in a race that has garnered national attention. Frederick John LaVergne is running as the Democratic-Republican Party candidate.

Belgard is vacating her seat as a Burlington County Freeholder to pursue the Congressional seat . This leaves Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio as the lone incumbent running for office. He will be joined on the Republican ticket by Mary Ann O’Brien. They will oppose Democrats Tom Pullion and Michael Schmidt.

Democrat Cory Booker is running for U.S. Senate for the second year in a row. Last year, he defeated Republican Steve Lonegan in a special election following the death of Frank Lautenberg. This year, he is the incumbent running against Republican challenger Jeff Bell.


He is also facing third party challenges from: Eugene LaVergne (DRP); Joe Baratelli (Libertarian); Jeff Boss (Independent); Antonio Sabas (Independent); and Hank Schroeder (Independent).

There are also two ballot questions.

The first proposes pre-trial jail time for certain criminal defendants.

The second proposes dedicating six percent of corporate business tax revenues to open space preservation.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

District 1: E. Riverton Community Center

Districts 2 and 14: Eleanor Rush School

Districts 3 and 4: Cinnaminson High School

Districts 5, 8 and 20: Cinnaminson Middle School

Districts 6, 15 and 16: Cinnaminson Community Center

District 7: Cinnaminson Fire Company No. 1

Districts 9 and 12: Cinnaminson Fire Company No. 2

Districts 10, 11 and 13: New Albany School

Districts 17, 18 and 19: St. Charles Borromeo School
