BUILD A HEALTHIER, HAPPIER KID AT WESTFIELD AREA Y HEALTHY KIDS DAY

On Saturday, April 25th from 1-4 p.m., the Westfield Area Y will join more than 1,500 YMCA’s nationwide in hosting YMCA Healthy Kids Day. Open to the public, this special event sponsored in part by Investors Bank in Garwood offers an afternoon of free, fun, engaging and creative activities promoting healthy eating, healthy habits, family activities and safe and healthy neighborhoods.
Free activities at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street will include:
· Inflatable obstacle course

New this year, Stew Leonard III Children’s Charities are excited to read “Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim” with a special appearance by Stewie the Duck. Stew Leonard III Children’s Charities is dedicated to water safety awareness and education, including providing swim scholarships and lifeguard training.
Unhealthy eating and physical inactivity are associated with an increased risk of a number of chronic health conditions including obesity. The percentage of young people who are overweight has tripled over the last 25 years. Studies have shown that children who develop healthy exercise and eating habits while they are young are more likely to continue to lead healthy lifestyles through adulthood.
