Eat This Now: Senorita's Guacamole

In time for Cinco de Mayo, find authentic Mexican food and a party at Hyatt Hills Golf Complex.

Anyone can be Mexican on Cinco de Mayo. The Mexican holiday transcends our border neighbor and has become a holiday for all Americans, too. And with any good Cinco de Mayo celebration, you got to have margaritas and guacamole. Enter Senorita’s: Clark’s own Mexican Grill.

Senorita’s, at the Hyatt Hills Golf Complex, takes home-style Mexican food to New Jersey, especially the guacamole.

The restaurant’s namesake guacamole is made at your table. The waiter takes a ripe avocado and pits in it front of you. They add lemon juice, cilantro, fresh tomatoes and red onions, and mix it all together for an individual serving of the dip.

According to the staff at Senorita’s, Cinco de Mayo is the biggest day of the year for the restaurant. They open the backyard patio and have an all-day celebration including drink specials and plenty of guacamole. There will be $5 Margaritas and $4 Three Olive and Eristoff cocktails.

“I went to Cinco de Mayo here last year, and it was fun for everyone,” said Garwood resident Karen Martinez. “My kids had a great time, the food was delicious. It’s the right way to celebrate the holiday.”

Martinez says Senorita’s is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is authentic and “you can tell it’s fresh. It’s the only place where they make the guacamole in front of you. You know it’s going to be good,” she said.

Last year was the biggest crowd at Senorita’s and the staff is expecting an even bigger showing this year. Complete with a petting zoo for the kids, and the Playboy Cyber Model, there will be entertainment for all ages.

The night’s entertainment is The Benjamin’s, a New Jersey cover band who will be playing on the patio at 8 p.m. No reservations are necessary.
