“Investment Basics for Uncertain Times”

On Monday February 27, 2012, from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County will offer a financial seminar entitled, “Investment Basics for Uncertain Times”.  The class will take place at the EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave., South Brunswick, NJ and registration will cost $15.

This two-hour class will cover highlights of Rutgers Cooperative Extension’s basic investing home study course, Investing For Your Future.  Topics that will be covered include: investment concepts and terminology, finding money to invest, commonly selected investment products, tax-deferred investing, investing with small dollar amounts, investment resources, and investment fraud. 

Presenting the information will be Dr. Barbara O'Neill, Rutgers Cooperative Extension's Extension Specialist in Financial Resource Management. A certified financial planner (CFP), chartered retirement planning counselor (CRPC), accredited financial counselor (AFC), and certified housing counselor (CHC); Dr. O'Neill has written over 1,500 consumer newspaper articles. She is the author of, Saving on a Shoestring and Investing on a Shoestring, and co-author of Money Talk: A Financial Guide for Women. Dr. O'Neill received her Ph.D. in family financial management in 1995 from Virginia Tech and holds a master's degree in consumer economics from Cornell University.
