The holiday of Passover celebrates the liberation of the ancient Israelites from bondage, and members of the Jewish community gather everywhere to retell the story of the Exodus at the festive Seder celebration. The Haggadah, a pedagogic and liturgical text is read, children are encouraged to ask questions about the holiday customs, and a special meal is served that features matzah, a flat, unleavened bread. It is customary to invite friends and neighbors to these gatherings to celebrate the universality of freedom.
Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah, 111 Valley Road in Clark will host a Seder on the second night of the holiday, Tuesday, April 19 at 7:30 pm that is open to members of the community. For information on the cost and to reserve a place, call the temple office at (732) 381-8403 x 11, or email at tbethor@gmail.com by April 12.
