School of Rock Coming to Clark in September

School of Rock, an after school music program for young musicians ages seven to 17, will be opening a location in Clark Township later this year.

The Clark School of Rock location will open at 1173 Raritan Road in Clark in early September of this year. The School’s curriculum will combine private lessons with live shows performed by its students at clubs, theaters and venues throughout the tri-state area.

“The thing that differentiates School of Rock from typical music schools is our belief that music is meant to be performed in front of live audiences, and that’s what we make possible,” Art Lima, Director of Operations for School of Rock Clark, said. “Along with having weekly 45 minute lessons with our staff of professional instructors – all of whom are working musicians – our students are also placed on supervised ‘teams’ that rehearse each week to perform major concert events featuring the hits of the greatest artists of popular music.”

Lima described some of the compositions in which students have learned in the past. “These concerts, which in the past have included tributes to the careers of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Metallica, the Rolling Stones and many other seminal artists, give our students a chance to learn the songs in ensembles with their peers,” Lima said. “The effectiveness of our unique approach is proven: kids practice more, learn faster, and develop a true love for playing and performing”.

School of Rock Clark will be open to the public for tours beginning August 1 and will officially be open for business in September.
