WESTFIELD AREA Y OFFERS SUMMER DANCE CLASSES

Young students will develop creativity and technique while becoming well-rounded and confident dancers in the Westfield Area Y’s new Dance Academy. Summer registration begins Thursday, June 4th for members and Monday, June 8th for non-members. The summer session runs June 21st - August 29th. Programs include: Ballet/Creative Movement; Ballet/Tap; Jazz/Hip Hop; Tap; and Modern.

The Dance Academy is directed by Amanda Bigelow who is also running the Y’s Dance Academy camps this summer. Amanda has a B.A. in Dance from Muhlenberg College and has been training, performing, teaching and working in dance for over 20 years. She has taught children at various studios and schools and has worked at Misnomer Dance Theater and Broadway Dance Center in NYC. Amanda specializes in teaching Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre.

“The Westfield Area Y Dance Academy is committed to providing a warm and nurturing learning environment where students of all skill levels can embrace the art of dance. Our goal is to help our students develop creativity, technique and a lifelong love and appreciation of dance while becoming well-rounded and confident dancers,” states dance instructor, Amanda Bigelow.

The summer program will include a variety of dance options for boys and girls ages 3-16 with two 5-week sessions available for parents to choose from. Interested participants can try different dance styles and see what they like.
