Blessing of Animals at Trinity Cranford, October 2nd
A Blessing of Animals ceremony will be held during the 9:00 AM service on Sunday October 2, 2011 in Sherlock Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church, North and Forest Avenues, Cranford, New Jersey. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi’s legendary love for animals, Blessing of the Animals has become an annual event celebrating the bond of love and companionship shared between people and their pets. “Anatole France’s quote "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." says it best,” said The Reverend Dr. Gina Walsh-Minor, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church.
The public is invited to bring their pets to receive a blessing. Please keep cats and birds in carriers and cages and keep dogs on leashes. People are also invited to bring in photographs of pets that are too sick to attend or deceased to receive a blessing. Small children who don’t have pets may also bring in stuffed animals to receive a blessing. For additional information, please call the Trinity Episcopal Church office at (908) 276-4047.
