VIDEO: CHS Coffee House Showcases Local Musicians
Students gain confidence, experience and new friends
Five years ago, former police officer Bob Segear was hired by Cranford High School as a counselor, and one of the first ideas he came up with, was to start a "coffeehouse" for aspiring musicians.
As Segear likes to say, he wants the kids to get a "natural high" from doing the things they enjoy, and for this group, it's playing music.
Coffeehouse members made new friends and gained respect for everyone's unique abilities. That was another special aspect of this monthly gathering.

Unfortunately, budget cuts will quiet these musicians for the time being, but Cranford Patch was on hand for the final coffeehouse event, held in the courtyard just outside the school cafeteria.
If you listen to the interviews and the music clips, you'll find out just how meaningful the coffeehouse was to each and every musician.
