The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against influenza and its potentially serious complications.
Habits that help reduce the spread of flu and germs include:
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth as much as possible.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash, and wash your hands.
- Get regular exercise, enough rest, and eat healthy, balanced meals.
