Astera Cancer Care, EBPL Team Up For Breast Cancer Program

This program is offered through the library's "Just For The Health of It" Consumer Health and Wellness information initiative.

Astera Cancer Care teams up with East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive) for the online presentation "Understanding Breast Cancer" on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:00 pm.

Sundus Abbasi, DO, Breast Surgeon at Astera Breast Cancer in New Brunswick and Monroe, will discuss cancer risks, how screening and imaging work, current treatment advances, and the importance of high-risk screening.

Dr. Abbasi received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. Following a residency in General Surgery at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in New Jersey, she completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper University Hospital.

She is also a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, and Society of Surgical Oncology.
