Middlesex officials said the change was made after the New Jersey Department of Health updated its guidance.
“Recognizing the limited vaccine supply, we felt it was in the best interest of county residents to limit vaccine appointments to those that reside in Middlesex County,” county officials said.

“We made this change earlier this week.”
The new rule change also reflects on the county website.
These are the county operated sites:
- East Brunswick Community Center
- Monroe Township Senior Center
- The Heldrich Hotel and Conference Center, New Brunswick
- Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School, Perth Amboy
- Middlesex County Office of Health Services, Piscataway
- Middlesex County Fire Academy, Sayreville
Residents still require an appointment to get the vaccine. They need to register through the New Jersey Vaccine Scheduling System, and if eligible, schedule an appointment for an open slot.
