Monmouth County Doctor Loses License After Sex Conviction
The neurologist, who lives in Colts Neck, was convicted of improperly touching a female patient during an exam, authorities said.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — After first suspending it, the state of New Jersey has now officially revoked the license of an Old Bridge-based neurologist who was convicted of sexually molesting a patient during an exam at his office. Dr. Farooq Rehman, who operated Neurology Consultants of Central Jersey out of Old Bridge, was convicted last year of criminal sexual contact of one patient and harassment of a second patient. He allegedly touched the first patient's bare breasts, buttocks and genital region during an exam at his Old Bridge office.
Rehman, 61, is a Colts Neck resident. As Patch has previously reported, he was arrested twice in 2015 on charges of criminal sexual contact involving two patients. Following the first arrest on September 22, 2015, the State Board of Medical Examiners was presented with video evidence; the patient had secretly recorded Dr. Rehman during one of the two alleged incidents.
The video showed the doctor groping the patient's buttocks, fondling her bare breasts and touching her genital area over her clothing several times, the Board said. The Board ordered his license temporarily suspended after watching that video.

“Doctors who exploit patients to satisfy their own base desires, as we allege Dr. Rehman did, are a menace to the public and a disgrace to their profession,” said New Jersey's Attorney General Chris Porrino.
On November 24, 2015, less than two weeks after his license was temporarily suspended, Dr. Rehman was arrested again on criminal sexual contact charges, this time involving another patient.

In June 2016, Rehman pleaded guilty in Middlesex County Court to one count of criminal sexual contact with regard to the first patient and one count of harassment with regard to the second patient. In August, he was sentenced to probation for a period of one year.
His medical license was revoked Jan. 5 of this year.
Rehman may not apply for or obtain a license to practice medicine or surgery in New Jersey until five years has elapsed from Nov. 13, 2015, the effective date of his temporary suspension. He must also reimburse the board $35,738 in investigative costs and attorney fees, and pay fines and penalties totaling $10,000.
Prior to the board considering any application for licensure, Rehman must successfully complete, at his own expense, an ethics course and a boundaries course approved in advance by the board. Rehman must also undergo a board-approved psycho-sexual evaluation and complete all recommendations for treatment. He must also appear before the board to discuss his readiness to reenter the practice of medicine, and demonstrate his fitness and competency to do so.
Under the agreement, Rehman is precluded from managing, overseeing, supervising or influencing the practice of medicine or provision of health care activities in New Jersey until all the terms of the consent order have been met.
