"BMW pulled into my driveway, the male seen in the video gets out and stole package off of my front porch. Happened just moments ago," wrote the homeowner on Dec. 14. "I have notified the Police I am awaiting their arrival. Happened in the Riva Ave area of East Brunswick closer to Milltown."

It was actually this video that helped East Brunswick police identify the man and lead to his arrest. Bernard Simpson, 29 of East Brunswick, was charged with theft.

When this video was posted on Ring, other East Brunswick residents chimed in, telling police the same thing occurred to them and they know who it is, said police.

Police headed to Simpson's home over the weekend and found the signature BMW parked in the driveway, they said. Incredibly, inside were the stolen packages, said Patrolman Agnes Garncarz

Simpson granted consent to having the car searched and the packages were located, said police. He was also positively identified from the surveillance video and was placed under arrest for theft.
