Continuing Studies of Mercer County Community College helping to fill the need for Allied Health professionals.
Growth within the Allied Health field is forecasted solidly into 2020 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. To fill the need for qualified Allied Health professionals, The Center for Continuing Studies of MCCC is offering a number of certificate programs to help the community step into the Allied Health field. Those with a high school diploma or GED are eligible to participate in most of the programs. Also, with the importance that the State of New Jersey has placed on filling the open positions in Allied Health, students who live in the state and are either long term unemployed or underemployed may be eligible for tuition assistance through the New Jersey Ready to Work grant.
The Center for Continuing Studies is currently registering for summer classes in the following programs: Certified Nurse Aide; Certified Home Health Aide; Clinical Development and Regulatory Affairs; Medical Billing and Coding; Pharmacy Technician and Phlebotomy. Free information sessions will be held on May 16, June 15, July 18 and August 17. Full details can be found at www.mccc.edu/ccs by viewing the Health Careers tab.
In addition, for those who have wanted to enter the field of Allied Health but need to brush up on their learning skills, a FREE Smart Start class is also set to run this summer. This class, open to ages 18 and over, teaches basic medical terminology, helps to increase reading comprehension and helps students to earn their First Aid and CPR certifications - all for NO COST to the student! The first summer Smart Start class runs May 24 to June 20 and is held Mondays through Fridays, 9:00am to 3:00pm, at the James Kerney campus of Mercer County Community College located at 102 North Broad Street in Trenton.
