ASAH Presents ‘Legislator of the Year’ Award to Senator Teresa M. Ruiz
Senator Ruiz Recognized For Commitment To Special Education

Hamilton Square, NJ – ASAH, a not-for-profit organization comprised of private schools and agencies that provide highly specialized services to children with disabilities in New Jersey, has awarded NJ State Senator Teresa M. Ruiz the Legislator of the Year Award for her outstanding service and passion to promote the ideas of justice, inclusion and equality in education for all New Jersey citizens.
State Senator Ruiz, who represents residents in the state’s 29th legislative district, was appointed to serve as the Chair of the Senate Education Committee, and serves on the Budget and Appropriations Committee as well as the Legislative Oversight Committee. A member of the New Jersey Senate since 2008, Ms. Ruiz has a long history of supporting measures that benefit all students in New Jersey, including those with disabilities.
“Senator Ruiz is always at the forefront of efforts to improve special education services in New Jersey and is a passionate voice for children with disabilities in the statehouse. We are proud to present Senator Ruiz with this award,” said Gerry Thiers, Executive Director of ASAH.

The ASAH Legislator of the Year Award will be an addition to the many accolades already received by Senator Ruiz, who has been awarded the Spirit of Hospice Award as Public Servant and the Garden State Equality Voice for Justice Award. The award will be presented at ASAH’s 39th Annual Conference in Atlantic City on November 18th of this year.
