Planning and Planting an Annual Garden

Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County will share their practical knowledge and give tips on using annuals in the garden.

The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County will host a program, “Planning and Planting an Annual Garden” on Saturday, June 13 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. The program will be held at the Mercer Educational Gardens, 431 A Federal City Road, Pennington, adjacent to the Mercer County Equestrian Center.

Valued for their long lasting and profuse blooms, annuals can transform a dull garden into a lush and colorful oasis. Rutgers Master Gardeners who create the annual garden at Mercer Educational Gardens will share their practical knowledge and give tips on using annuals. They will cover the importance of planning and proper timing, share key design principles, and give advice on how to select the best varieties, minimize costs, keep critters at bay and tend the garden throughout the season.

The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County is a volunteer educational outreach program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. Rutgers Master Gardeners participate in many volunteer programs throughout the County, as well as answer home horticulture questions through their Rutgers Master Gardener Helpline, (609) 989-6853, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (March through October) and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (November through February).
