Active Part Of Grassroot Volunteer Organizations: Edison Star Student
We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one student who is having an impact in Edison.

EDISON, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Shomali who nominated Rishita, a grade 12 student of Edison-Metuchen.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
In addition to having excellent grades in high-level, rigorous courses, Rishita is an active part of her community and family. She leads her high school’s weekly newsletter and holds high executive board positions in Science National Honor Society, Chemistry Club, Latin Club, and Student Council. She can be seen contributing spirit and empathy to members of the community, not only through her in-school activities but also through her volunteering at the local JFK Medical Center. Rishita is also an active part of her grassroots volunteer organization in Edison dedicated to serving the community’s needs through fundraisers and betterment events. On top of all of this, Rishita demonstrates great care and compassion as a caretaker to her severely disabled autistic older brother. His condition inspires her to help him and the Edison-Metuchen community at large.

Rishita is a compassionate and confident young woman brimming with leadership skills and kindness.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Rishita!
