• Edison PD Opens Applications For 2026 Civilian Police Academy (patch.com) — Edison residents 18 and older can now apply for the free 2026 Fall Civilian Police Academy, a five-week Thursday evening program at the Edison Public Safety Center. The academy offers an inside look at police operations and community policing, but space is limited to the first 25 applicants, with a Sept. 28 deadline to register online.

• Motorcyclist thrown 35 feet in crash in front of N.J. mall (nj.com subscription) — A serious crash in front of Menlo Park Mall in Edison left a 31-year-old Metuchen motorcyclist critically injured after he was thrown about 35 feet in a collision with an SUV Monday afternoon. Police say the SUV turned left at Parsonage Road and Menlo Park Drive under a yellow light, and no charges have been filed as the investigation continues. Expect ongoing police presence and possible traffic impacts near the mall.
