Plainfield Man Charged With Murder Of Edison Woman: Prosecutor
Shakir Tyler was charged with fatally shooting Edison resident Tayeesha Webb, authorities said.
EDISON, NJ — A man from Plainfield has been charged with the murder of an Edison woman, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department announced.
On Saturday evening, around 7:28 p.m., authorities responded to a residence on Wintergreen Avenue West following the report of a shooting, police said.
Upon their arrival, police found Tayeesha Webb, 35, had sustained an apparent gunshot wound, police said. Officers performed life-saving measures on Webb who was later pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

An investigation conducted by Detective Ayaz Mamood of the Edison Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office found that Shakir Tyler, 42, of Plainfield shot Webb following an argument outside of the residence, authorities said.
Tyler was charged with first-degree murder and second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose upon surrendering to the members of the Allentown Police Department in Pennsylvania, police said.

Tyler remains in Pennsylvania pending an extradition hearing. When he is extradited, he will be lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court, authorities said.
